Job Summary

General Purpose:

Provides support to Management and Employees on human resource initiatives such as project management, employee relations, labor relations, compensation, benefits, legal/regulatory and policy interpretation/application.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

It is expected that all of the Principal Duties and Responsibilities identified below will be performed in a manner that reflects the values of the Mercy Health, which are: Excellence, Human Dignity, Justice, Compassion, Sacredness of Life and Service.

  • Partners with management to create a positive employee relations environment; counsels employees and managers regarding employee relations issues; reviews all performance counseling to ensure compliance with Mercy policies; interprets policies for managers and employees and recommends appropriate responses to employee relations concerns; consults with HR Director and/or legal counsel as appropriate; maintains knowledge of federal and state regulations, court rulings and industry trends related to the management of human resources
  • Leads or helps to facilitate efforts related to employee engagement, benefits open enrollment, performance management, TB/flu immunization and I-Learn compliance, etc.
  • Leads or help to facilitate training on sexual harassment, diversity inclusion, workplace violence, organizational initiatives (ex: iMap), and special department requests
  • Monitors and maintains compensation equity; works with operations and HR Compensation to determine appropriate salary quotes for equity adjustments
  • Creates and/or contributes to reports related to retention analysis, leadership performance indicators, and other HR dashboards; processes database queries to address data requests.

 Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible and complex professional experience within a Human Resources function
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
  • Knowledge of HR laws required 
  • Familiarity with MSOffice, PeopleSoft, Workday and PeopleAnswers desired


Full-time, 40 hours per week, days, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
