Job Summary

Works under the direction of a qualified professional nurse. Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, within the objectives, standards, and policies of the department and within the parameters of his or her preparation. 

Provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients based on the application of scientific principles, under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.  Assists in preoperative, postoperative, and relevant health teaching for patient and family.  Shares responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans and nursing care.  Participates in team conferences, sharing knowledge, information, and ideas among team members.  Prepares, administers, and records medications in  accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed practical nurse.

Qualifications - Minimum

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing

Kentucky Licensed Practical Nurse License

Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA 

Prior experience in acute care, either through work or clinical rotation

Qualifications - Preferred

One to two years of acute care experience

Physical Demands

Works within patient care units and other areas as assigned. Working beyond  normal working hours, on weekends, and holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.  Working throughout the facility moving around intermittently thoughout the shift.  Frequent interruptions.

Hours

7:00 pm - 7:30 am

Shift and Job Schedule

Day shift; rotating schedule
