Job Summary

The Nutrition Services Employee (NSA)-EFY will be responsible for effectively and accurately taking patient meal orders, assembly their patients orders in a timely manner, and delivering them with courtesy. The NSA-EFY will be the central communication link between the patient and Nutrition Services, the nursing team and the Physician’s regarding fulfilling dietary needs and requests. Major responsibilities include taking meal orders, fulfilling/ assembling meal orders, delivering meals and meeting department standards for delivery times, aiding in meal set up at bedside, and discarding of soiled trays. The NSA-EFY must demonstrate personal traits with a high level of commitment, motivation and energy: team orientation, professionalism, trust, personal honesty, integrity and placing others in a place of high value by treating them with I Care Code of Conduct always. The NSA-EFY is a direct link and team player to the unit they are supporting for their shift.

 

Qualifications - Minimum

Education:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•             Service oriented attitude to relate and communicate effectively with patients, families and medical staff and provide comfort and support when needed.

•             Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

•             Ability to make quick decisions in order to respond to unexpected situations.

•             Must be able to demonstrate prioritization skills and to work independently with limited direct supervision.

•             Intermediate computer skills required.  Ability and willingness to learn multiple software applications.

•             Must possess a high level of customer service skills, demonstrating care and compassion.

•             Excellent telephone etiquette.

 

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (continued):

•             High School education or equivalent or in process of obtaining

•             Aptitude to work in a high stress environment.

•             Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.

•             Previous Healthcare Experience and Spanish (bi-lingual) preferred.

•             Minimum 3-6 months’ prior food service experience preferred

•             Positions require a rotation of hourly schedules, weekends and holidays subject to change based on patient needs.

•             Employees must be able to lift 15-20 lbs. with a repetitive twisting motion and up to 40 pounds occasionally.

•             Able to push and steer a loaded food cart.

•             Substantial physical effort with bending, standing, walking more than 80% of the work time.

•             Exposure to high temperatures from stove, ovens, and cold temperatures from freezer and refrigerators.

•             Respond to call lights

•             Transport trays and supplies to Hospice when needed.

•             Demonstrates knowledge of practices of HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point) procedures and methods at all times.

 

Hours

Hours per pay period: 80

Hours: 6:00am to 8:00pm

This position will be a rotating weekends and holiday position.
