Job Summary

Proficient with all routine and non-routine CT studies including 3D post processing.  Understanding all CT protocols and operation of multi-slice technology. Fluent in Diagnostic X-ray for late night coverage.  Assist radiologist/physicians, be able to perform basic nursing skills and assist with clerical functions as needed. Maintain a positive service attitude to customers when performing all duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for knowing all policies, procedures and protocols of the CT Dept. and the policies and procedures of Radiology. Attending mandatory yearly in-services.

 

Assume responsibility for maintaining registry. Be able to critique and produce images for optimal diagnostic interpretation by the radiologist.

 

2. be proficient in the use of all CT machines at your facility (SRMC, PCACC and/or DACC) and assume On Call responsibilities as needed.

 

Maintain equipment in clean working condition. Document, report and follow through with maintenance, malfunctions and safety of the equipment.

 

Know where all equipment and supplies are.

 

3. Be proficient in sterile technique. Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for biopsy cases. Assisting radiologist in exams as needed.

 

4.PT. Check all arm bands when applicable for patient identification prior to exam and/or check birthdates on OPs.

 

Pt education of procedures and obtaining consents as needed to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.

 

Perform proper documentation for education and pt. history’s.

 

Perform pt assessment (vital signs , awareness and comprehension ) before and after exam as well as pt. observation during the exam.

 

Documentation of significant conditions changes and /or reactions.

 

Notify manager/physician/nurse of patient's condition and reaction to drugs with follow through as needed as well as documentation.

 

Maintain pt comfort and respond to their needs.

 

5. Safety. Keep safety of patient and other personnel number one.

 

Follow all radiation safety procedures for self, patient and others.

 

Be aware of and follow isolation protocols.

 

Respond to life saving situations based on radiology standards, policies, procedures and protocols.

 

6. Team. Be professional and courteous to all.

 

Keep peers informed as needed during shift and at shift change.

 

Perform support duty’s -- answering phones, running films, transporting patients, stocking supplies and linen, as well as cleaning rooms, TAT, etc.

 

Maintain good working relationships with all radiologists, physicians and contacts within and outside the department.

 

Be flexible in covering different procedures, in working different hours and shifts to provide appropriate coverage. (Working over when needed.)

 

Participate in continuing education sessions related to department functions.

 

Participate in department quality improvement activities.

 

Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Assist in mentoring of training and orientation of new employees and students in respective section.

 

7. Confidentiality. Maintain patient's confidentiality at all times -- patient data, including medical history and diagnosis.

 

Responsible for safeguarding sensitive internal information, whether written or verbal.

 

8. RIS. Thoroughly understand and operate the Radiology Information System as it pertains to your job functions.

 

Trouble shoot computer hardware problems and report unresolved problems to the R.I.S. coordinator.

Qualifications - Minimum

Education:

Registered with AART, Licensed in State of Ohio, Certified in CPR

 

Preferred: 1 year CT experience in a hospital setting, CT Registered, experience with 3D post-processing.
