Job Summary

General Purpose:

This position is primarily responsible for participating in the development of long-term financial plans. In addition, this position supports Finance analytics, capital planning and capital monitoring.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the development of long term (3-5 year) financial models, including manipulation of financial models in financial planning software to integrate assumptions, impacts and initiatives as directed.

  • Assist in development and maintenance of financial planning software and tools to efficiently and effectively support financial planning processes.

  • Monitor on-going financial performance through monthly variance analysis.

  • Provide assistance in capital budgeting and monitoring capital spending during the year to support administration of capital contingency and capital carryover.

  • Support Assistant CFOs in developing analysis of site specific capital projects utilizing standardized tools.

  • Develop ad hoc reports ensuring that user expectations are mutually agreed to and met regarding content, timeliness and format to support user needs.

  • Identify improvements to financial planning, capital planning and evaluation processes; assist in implementation of improvements.

  • Maintain a constructive relationship with Finance Decision Support to ensure a working knowledge of the capabilities of the Decision Support tools.

  • Maintain a constructive relationship with Assistant CFOs to facilitate the exchange of information, support for System financial issues and awareness of Market capital projects and financial issues.

  • Develop and maintain a constructive relationship with Capital Asset Accounting to ensure a working knowledge of the capabilities of capital reporting systems.

  • Maintain a current knowledge of key trends and issues facing the healthcare industry.

  • Other analytic and support services as identified.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare or comparable discipline. Master’s degree (MBA or MHA) preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years healthcare industry experience with a financial focus.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written with Mercy Health internal and external customers.

  • Ability to present complex information to varying audiences throughout the organization.

  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency with the Hyperion Enterprise financial reporting tool and StrataJazz Financial Planning software preferred; knowledge of StrataJazz Continuous Cost Improvement software preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft computer software tools (spreadsheet, word processing, presentation).

Hours

Full-time, 40 hours per week, days, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
