The purpose of this position is to direct, delegate, assign, and lead the members of SPD and CPD so that the needs of the surgery areas are met. can coordinate surgery needs between the OR, SPD and CPD. Will also continue to process instruments and perform all duties in a manner that is cost effective without compromising quality of care. Will contribute to organizational effectiveness and demonstrates career growth and development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support surgical suites as a resource
Anticipate needs of OR team
Coordinate surgical needs between CP, SPD, and OR
Assist with Inventory control and documentation
Assigns daily tasks and delegates projects as needed.
Assist in the monthly staffing schedule.
Able to train new employees as well as work effectively with other team members.
Demonstrates knowledge of the Surgical Processing Area and its role in supporting surgery.
Demonstrates Behaviors that are consistent with SRMC Mission and Core Values.
Adheres to the standards and policies pertaining to the processing department as well as SRMC.
Loads and operates washer sterilizers, and sterilizers. Performs all aspects of processing duties: wrapping, decontamination, sterilization, sorting, rotating supplies and equipment, etc.
Follows SRMC event related sterility policy for hospital processed sterile items.
Ability to visually inspect instrumentation for cleanliness and defects.
Demonstrates knowledge of standards in the disinfection, cleaning, processing and sterilization of instruments and equipment provided through the department.
Promotes clean and safe working environment through recommended transport and disposal of biohazardous items.
Utilizes effective communication skills with all departments to achieve transfer of information and supplies necessary for patient care.
Demonstrates safe and effective operation of equipment through utilization of daily testing and verification process.
Identifies flow of the daily activities of surgery to anticipate needs for each day and next day’s needs also.
Utilizes the IMPRESS system for documentation of instrument processing.
Appropriate PPE is worn as well as following standard precautions when performing decontamination.
Able to troubleshoot equipment and processes.
Able to handle issues effectively with vendors.
Qualifications - Minimum
High School Diploma
5 + Years OR experience preferred, computer skills, background in Medical Terminology, ability to understand scheduled procedures, and aseptic technique. Successfully complete and maintain CRCSTcertification and CIS certification. Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
Hours per pay period: 80
Hours: 7:00am to 3:30pm
Rotating holidays and weekends and On-call.
