A professional nurse who assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the delivery of patient care services in the operating room. He/she provides professional direction to the development and evaluation of all nursing and ancillary personnel and assures the operational processes of care delivery specific to the OR are collaborative enacted with other Medical Center professional and support services. He/she contributes to the Medical Center's mission through support of philosophy, goals, objectives and strategic plans, as well as education and research efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provides leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and developmental goals and objectives.
Conducts all annual performance evaluations on personnel, along with clinical supervisor as well as those required for probationary periods.
Participates in the development of an annual OR budget which includes seeking input from staff and appropriate physicians.
Monitors, evaluate, and assure efficiency in the utilization of resources including human, capital, and supplies.
Assures OR care delivery process and activities are compliant to related regulatory standards and assure, as well, individual staff members' awareness of same.
Interviews and select staff for the OR in conjunction with OR Director.
Assures the provision of a structured orientation for new employees that confirms/teaches competences specific to the delivery of care in the OR.
Identifies process improvement and cost containment opportunities that enhance or maintain quality of care, participate in the coordination of these activities and monitor outcomes.
Represents the OR leadership team on committees as assigned.
Coordinates and directs daily onsite clinical activities occurring interdepartmentally and intradepartmentally
Serves as a liaison person between OR and customer groups associated with the OR.
Responsible for development and enforcement of policies and procedures
Responsible for management of personnel, clinical practice and operational functions of the OR
Serves as a clinical resource person to employees and students.
Provides direct supervision to clinical supervisor
Initiates disciplinary action with directors input.
Conducts monthly unit meetings with input form director.promotes personal growth through clinical competencies and assures attendance for unit meetings.
Competently functions in a staff capacity as needed.
Assures TJC standard compliance
Analyzes and resolve employee/patient complaints and problems
Responsibilities include assisting with training employees, planning, assigning and directing work flow.
Directly supervises 60+ employees including ancillary support staff.
Models performance expectations of excellence while building confidence in others to achieve goals.

Qualifications - Minimum

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current RN licenser in the State of Ohio
BSN required and MSN preferred or willing to acquire with in 3 years
Successful completion of ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and CNOR certification required
Education and/or Experience
Education: Bachelors with MSN preferred or willing to acquire within 3 years
Years of Experience: 3-5
Minimum 3 years current experience in OR nursing with progressive levels of supervisory experience.
Possess and demonstrate knowledge/awareness of:
Management and nursing theory.
Patient rights as identified within the institution.
Sterilization and infection control theory and applicable techniques.
OR equipment functions and related safety practices.
Legal aspects of patient care delivery and risk management, specifically as related to OR care delivery.
Hours per pay period: 80
Hours: 7:00am to 3:30pm
