The Director – Laboratory Services provides leadership and support in assigned areas to ensure achievement of Mercy Health's strategic and operational plans by effectively managing human, financial and capital resources within the spirit of Mercy Health's mission and values.
The Director directs and oversees the shared laboratory operations for clinical services, including technical operations, data support, clerical, information support, outreach, regulatory and safety compliance. The Director is responsible to ensure laboratory services are of high quality, comply with all regulatory standards and are provided in a timely, high value, cost effective manner to physicians, patients and other customers. The Director hires personnel and is responsible to ensure all personnel are evaluated and competent to perform clinical services and ensures quality assurance systems and quality control systems are in place and effective. The Director is responsible to ensure labor and non-labor resources are efficiently and effectively budgeted and allocated to maximize high value lab services. The Director works in conjunction with the Medical Director of Pathology to ensure clinical services are medically relevant and of high quality.
The Director participates in the establishment of laboratory goals in conjunction with the Mercy Health strategic plan and is responsible to develop the operating and capital budget for the shared services laboratory. The Director ensures written protocols and monitors are in place for lab operations and functions. The Director is responsive to physicians, staff and customers needs; is innovative, systems thinking in application of principals and problem solving; is positive and respectful in manner to all; actively assesses and improves services as needed to meet system goals.
Qualifications - Minimum
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent knowledge/experience.
Master's Degree preferred.
Board certified Medical Technologist or MLT, ASCP, AMT or equivalent
5 years experience in Laboratory
5 years of leaderhip experience preferred.
Completion of an accredited program in clinical laboratory science.
