Job Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the financial management of Mercy Health's benefit plans for 30,000+ employees across Ohio and Kentucky. Responsibilities include supporting the billing/invoicing, cost projection, budgeting, reporting and data analytics processes for over $300 million annual worth of plans including medical, pharmacy, life, short and long term disability, vision, dental, paid-time-off and tuition benefit programs. This position collaborates with other internal Mercy Health stakeholders (such as our clinically integrated network analytics team) and external partners (such as our benefit administrators and actuaries) to ensure that we know how our plans are performing, and why they are performing the way that they are.

Participates in and leads leading edge, system wide operational and employee benefit projects as a subject matter resource.  

Responsible for data analytics for the employee benefit programs including utilization and financial data, responsible for tracking to corporate and department budgets.

Prepares and submits benefits expense allocations and invoices for payment for insured and self-funded programs; prepares ACH requests and check requests as needed and consistent with system benefits budget and expense recognition programs.

Responsible for the day-to-day execution and effectiveness of assigned benefits processes, such as medical network accuracy, audits of plan set-ups and eligibility, compliance activities, continuation of benefits, etc.  and delivery of administration by assigned vendors.  Documents Standard Operating Procedures. Analyzes financial effects of union bargaining strategies and coordinates implementation of any negotiated changes.

Provides subject-matter expertise to Program Delivery and Employee Experience teams during implementation and rollout phases for new and updated plans, processes and policies.  Collaborates with Mercy Health Employee Service Center and Market HR to keep all parties updated on program rollouts, issue resolution and progress.

Qualifications - Minimum

Required Minimum Education: 4 yr. Bachelors Degree; Major: Human Resources or related field

Licensure/Certification: Preferred: PHR or CEBS

Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 3 years of advanced analytics experience

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Must possess advanced Excel and analytic skills and demonstrated working experience of data/financial analytics.    Familiarity with MS Office and PeopleSoft preferred.  Effective problem-solving and project management skills required.
